PM Modi reviews mega projects, warns against lackadaisical attitude

On Wednesday, PM Modi reviewed key projects in the country in his 31st interaction through PRAGATI and warned against any delay in the completion of projects.

On Wednesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi reviewed key projects in the country in his 31st interaction through PRAGATI, the multimodal platform for Pro-Active Governance and Timely Implementation. A total of 9 projects worth over Rs.61,000 crore pertaining to 16 states and the Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir were reviewed. The PM focused on the speedy implementation of pending projects and the upgradation of infrastructure. Maintaining that outdated vision had negatively impacted India’s growth for decades, PM Modi warned that such an attitude wouldn’t be tolerated now.

Emphasis on the early completion of projects

PM Modi directed the Katra-Banihal Railway Line to be completed by 2020. Many projects in the north-east such as the widening and the upgradation of the Aizawl-Tuipang highway also came under discussion. The PM stressed on the early completion of the Delhi-Meerut expressway to facilitate a faster and safer commute for the people. He also called upon the state governments to expedite delayed projects and send regular reports to his office regarding the same. Discussions were also held on the creation of an intra-state transmission system in renewable energy-rich states like Tamil Nadu, Rajasthan, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Himachal Pradesh, Gujarat, Maharashtra, and Madhya Pradesh.  After observing the performance of the aspirational districts on 49 indicators, the PM acknowledged that Uttar Pradesh scored very well on many fronts.
