PM Modi to review performance of districts, 30 regions under purview

PM Narendra Modi will conduct a review of the performance of the 30 most underdeveloped districts in the country on the criteria of health, education, nutrition and agriculture on Wednesday. A senior official said that this would be the first time the focus will be on 30 districts. The districts have been identified by NITI AAYOG and come under the Centre's "Transformation of Aspirational Districts Programme".

PM to review districts 

As per the statement from the Centre, PM Modi has decided to include aspirational districts programme as one of the agenda items in the forthcoming PRAGATI meeting. Twenty districts have shown 'best improvement' and 10 'low progress' on various development indices.

PM Inaugurates Science Festival

PM Modi inaugurated the fifth Indian International Science Festival in Kolkata on Tuesday. The Prime Minister addressed a gathering in the city through video conferencing and welcomed Minister for Science and Technology, Dr Harsh Vardhan, along with several other Cabinet ministers and state science and technology ministers, dignitaries, scientists, academicians and government officials that are a part of the event. In the inauguration address, the Prime Minister stated that “The 5th edition of the India International Science Festival is taking place at a place that has produced great personalities serving humanity in every field of knowledge.” PM Modi added, “This festival is happening at a time when the birth anniversary of CV Raman on 7 November and Jagdish Chandra Bose will be celebrated on 30 November.”

PM Modi chairs meeting on pollution in northern India

PM Modi on Tuesday chaired a meeting in which the situation arising out of the high pollution levels in northern parts of India was discussed. The official Twitter account of the PM’s office mentioned that there was also a review of the situation related to the cyclonic conditions in the western region of India. This follows the review undertaken by the Principal Secretary to the PM on Monday in which the Chief Secretaries of Punjab, Haryana, and Delhi participated.
