'Rahul Gandhi showed how insensitive he is': Amit Shah hits out as Manohar Parrikar sets the record straight on Congress president's 'personal visit'

BJP chief Amit Shah lashed out at Rahul Gandhi after Goa CM Manohar Parrikar wrote a letter to the Congress president over his meeting with him.

A day after Congress president Rahul Gandhi met Goa chief minister Manohar Parrikar in his office, he took to Twitter to call it a 'personal visit'. However, while addressing the people of Kochi, Kerala on Wednesday, Rahul Gandhi said that he spoke to Mr Parrikar about the Rafale deal wherein the Goa CM told him that he as the Defence Minister was not informed about the changes being made in the deal by the Prime Minister.

In a video posted by news agency ANI, Rahul Gandhi can be heard saying, "I met Parrikar ji yesterday. He himself told me that the Defence Minister of India was not informed when PM was making the changes in the deal(Rafale). 

Hours after these comments made by Rahul Gandhi, Goa CM Manohar Parrikar wrote to the Congress president expressing discontent over using his 'personal visit for petty political gains' and exposing his lies in front of the public.

As Mr Parrikar released a statement clearing that no talks happened between him and Rahul Gandhi over Rafale, BJP president Amit Shah took to Twitter and lashed out at the Congress president for his 'insensitive and reckless behaviour' for 'lying in the name of a person fighting a disease'. He also added that Mr Parrikar set the record straight on the allegations put up by Rahul Gandhi over the his visit and Rafale deal.

Replying to the Mr Parrikar's letter, Union Minister and BJP leader Smriti Irani also took to Twitter and slammed Rahul Gandhi for his remarks on Rafale after his meeting with Mr Parrikar. Smriti Irani wrote, "What kind of culture Rahul Gandhi ji is promoting in the excuse of manner? This is the proof that Rahul Gandhi ji can stoop to any low for his political gains."

On Wednesday, Goa CM Manohar Parrikar wrote a scathing letter to Rahul Gandhi hitting out at the Congress president for trying to gain political mileage from his courtesy visit to the former Defence Minister. He also mentioned in the letter that Rahul Gandhi called on him without prior information and enquired about him health condition. 

"Paying a courtesy visit and then stooping so low as to make a false statement for petty political gain has raised, in my mind, questions about the sincerity and purpose of your visit itself," part of the Goa CM's letter read.
