Rajnath Singh: Can't rule out a terrorist incident on coastline by Pak

Rajnath Singh, the Defence Minister of India, on Friday, stated that the government is completely committed to coastal and maritime security during any terror incident along the coastal line. He stated that any big incident carried out by terrorists from a neighbouring country cannot be ruled out. "We cannot rule out that our neighbouring country's terrorists can carry out a big incident on our coastline which extends from Kutch to Kerala. As a Defence Minister, I would like to assure that our country's maritime security is absolutely strong and solidified. We are completely committed to coastal and maritime security," he said. 

On Balakot air-strike

While speaking at the 66th birthday celebrations of Mata Amritanandamayi Devi in Kollam at Kerala, the Defence Minister said that India will not let anyone "rest in peace" who bothered them. This statement was made in reference to the Balakot air-strike, in response to the Pulwama attack. "You know that after some days of Pulwama incident, our Air Force conducted airstrike at Balakot in Pakistan. We do not bother anyone, but if anyone bothers us, we will not let them rest in peace. The country that does not remember the sacrifice of its soldiers, it is not respected anywhere in the world," he stated. He further said that the soldiers who have sacrificed their lives also have a family. "We should stand with them and honour the sacrifice made by the martyrs of their family," he said.

India on high alert

According to reports, just a few days before, India has been put on high alert after intelligence agencies warned of a terror plot to target Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah and National Security Adviser Ajit Doval. The high alert has been issued in retaliation of the Centre's decision to abrogate Article 370 that revoked the special status of Jammu and Kashmir, and further bifurcating the state into two Union Territories - Jammu and Kashmir, and Ladakh. Further reports state that the ministry has put a high alert in the country. Along with it, an orange alert has been issued and security is tightened.
