Deserted by husband

Chilkapalli Anasuyamma is known for breaking gender stereotypes among the village dwellers and for the world. At just the age of 20, she was deserted by her husband and when her entire family thought her life was over, she knew that it was not the end of the world. However, as she did not receive any schooling, she was facing difficulties in looking for a job when finally she was put in touch with DDS through a neighbour. Since then, Anasuyamma has devoted 25 years of her life working to convert the wastelands into lush green forests. DDS had educated her about the importance of rainwater and recharge groundwater tables, and therefore Anasuyamma took a firm stand to improve the condition of the earth.
