Uttar Pradesh to receive rainfall with thunderstorms on Tuesday: IMD

According to the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), several parts of Uttar Pradesh are expected to receive rain, accompanied with Thunderstorms and lightning over a period of hours on Tuesday.

Rain to affect various districts in UP

The weather forecast issued by the Lucknow department said, "Rain/thundershowers and lightning very likely to occur today during next 3 hours at a few places over Agra, Firozabad, Etawah, Auraiya, Jalaun, Kannauj, Kanpur Dehat, Kanpur Nagar, Unnao, Bijnor districts and adjoining areas."

According to officials, as of September 28, 44 deaths were reported due to rain-related accidents. According to reports, people have lost lives Pratapgarh, Raebareli, Amethi, Chandauli, Varanasi, Prayagraj, Barabanki and Mahoba. Further, deaths have also been reported in Ambedkar Nagar, Kanpur, Gorakhpur, Sonebhadra, Ayodhya, Saharanpur, Jaunpur, Kaushambi and Azamgarh.  According to Relief Commissioner of Uttar Pradesh, GS Priyadarshi, 294 houses have also been damaged due to excessive rain in the area. He also said that the government is constantly in touch with the weather department and district administrations to control water-logging problems. Rains in Uttar Pradesh have created a flood-like situation and have affected routine lives adversely. Not only are the roads filled with water, but the rail services have also been affected too.

According to officials, after heavy rains early on September 30, the tracks got blocked as mud deposited over them after the downpour. This resulted in disruption of traffic and caused havoc for the commuters. It was further added that as many as seven trains were cancelled and the other six were diverted, owing to the dire situation.

Extreme situation in Bihar

In addition to Uttar Pradesh, Bihar has also been facing extreme situations. On September 28, the state received 84.5 mm rainfall against the normal of 5.7 mm. Areas including Samastipur, Bhagalpur, Begusarai and Bhojpur districts received rainfall above 130 mm in 24 hours, affecting lives to a high level. Hundreds of people have died and a red alert by the IMD remains active in the state.
