You think your dog is smart? Study says no.

A study has claimed their your four-legged canine-buddy is more dim-witted than you would like to believe. Despite all the tail wagging, drooling, sniffing, sock-chewing and cuddles, your dog might lack cognition but is still oozing of cuteness.

A study has claimed their your four-legged canine-buddy is more dim-witted than you would like to believe. Despite all the tail wagging, drooling, sniffing, sock-chewing and cuddles, your dog might lack cognition but is still oozing of cuteness. 

Answering the question, “Are dogs really that special?” revealed this news. The study was conducted in the journal Learning and Behaviour. 

The study draws a comparison between canine cognition to other carnivores, domestic animals and social hunters, basically, all the groups that a dog fall into. The researchers of this study made use to pre-existing information on animal behaviour of – dolphins, cats, wolves, pigs, horses, hyenas, chimpanzees and even pigeon to evaluate if dogs embrace any special skills that might not have been observed before.

So apart from being cute, the study revealed that they do not possess any special skills. The study read, “When a broad-enough set of comparison species is considered, there is no current case for canine exceptionalism.”
