Rape and murder accused Kuldeep Singh Sengar reached the Tis Hazari court lock-up. He will be produced before the court of Dharmesh Kumar. He was brought among high security. Four to five police vehicles were used for escort security.

He and other accused were being held in Uttar Pradesh's Sitapur District Jail.

On Sunday, August 4, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) conducted raids at more than 15 places including Sengar's residence in Unnao. They also conducted searches at some locations in Lucknow, Unnao, Banda and Fatehpur as part of their probe.

The CBI had booked expelled-BJP MLA Kuldeep Sengar, nine others and 15-20 unidentified persons in connection with the accident case of the rape-survivor. Following which, the agency also questioned Sengar on Saturday in connection with the case.

Unnao rape case

In June 2017, the rape-survivor who was a minor was allegedly raped by her uncle ex- BJP MLA Kuldeep Singh Sengar on 4 June 2017. Her father was assaulted, allegedly by the rape-accused BJP MLA's brother Atul Singh Sengar. Before succumbing to his injuries, the victim's father had named Atul Singh Sengar as his assaulter in video testimony. In April 2018, a case was registered against Sengar under section 363, 366, 376, 506 and Pocso Act of Indian Penal Code and was sent to jail. Sengar along with his brother Atul Singh is in jail since then.

Unnao accident case

On July 29, 2019, the Unnao rape survivor, her family, and lawyer were travelling when they were hit by an overspeeding truck in Rae Bareli. In the accident, the rape survivors' aunts were killed leaving her and the advocate critically injured. The Uttar Pradesh police filed a murder case against BJP MLA Kuldeep Singh Sengar and nine others after the rape survivor's family filed a complaint, alleging "conspiracy" behind the accident. As per latest report in the case, the 19-year-old rape survivor is on ventilator support and her condition is critical. Her advocate has been taken off the ventilator, but he is still not out of danger.

Supreme Court action

The Supreme Court transferred cases pertaining to Unnao rape case from Lucknow CBI court to Delhi CBI court. It modified its order to transfer the accident case as the CBI complained to it that the transfer of the case to Delhi was affecting the remand of accused, custodial interrogation of Kuldeep Sengar among other issues. The case will remain in Lucknow for the next 7 to 14 days, till the probe is over. The CBI had also moved an application in a Lucknow court on Friday seeking custodial interrogation of four other suspects in the case apart from Kuldeep Singh Sengar, i.e. Atul Singh, Shailender Singh, Virender Singh, Vineet Mishra.
