"Best suited to take mission forward," says Col Rajyavardhan Rathore for his successor Kiren Rijiju; here's how the newly-appointed Sports Minister responded

As Kiren Rijiju took charge as the Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Youth Affairs & Sports on Friday, former Sports Minister Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore took to Twitter and hailed his successor to the office.

As Kiren Rijiju took charge as the Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Youth Affairs & Sports on Friday, former Sports Minister Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore took to Twitter and hailed his successor to the office. 

In the tweet, Col Rajyavardhan Rathore stated that he was a sportsman first and later a Sports Minister, adding that he worked with an athlete's temperament to do the best for Indian sports. He further called PM Modi his captain and hailed his great team of Department of Sports, Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports and Sports Authority of India, saying that they helped in making a difference. 

Praising Kiren Rijiju, Col Rathore further said that he is the best suited to take the mission forward:

Responding to Col Rathore's tweet, Kiren Rijiju called him his friend and said that he has inspired millions from being a soldier to being the first Indian to win the Olympic Silver Medal to being Sports Minister of India. Calling the youth the power of the country, Rijiju further said that they will together fulfil the visions set by PM Modi to take India to greater heights. 

A lawyer by qualification, Kiren Rijiju won the Lok Sabha Elections 2019 from the Arunachal West seat which also marked his second successive victory from the constituency. On Friday, he was appointed as Minister of State (Independent Charge) of the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports and MoS in the Ministry of Minority Affairs. Rijiju has a sporting background, having participated in the National Games during his college days.
