Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) on Friday won the Lok Sabha bypoll in Vellore in Tamil Nadu.
DMK candidate Kathir Anand defeated AIADMK nominee AC Shanmugham in the bypoll, which was rescinded before the General Elections in May after unaccounted cash was allegedly recovered from an office said to be that of a close associate of Anand.
Speaking to the media, DMK Candidate Kathir Anand said he would dedicate his victory to the party's hardwork and to their party leader.

Counting of votes for the Vellore Lok Sabha constituency commenced at 8 am on Friday, August 9 at a centre set up on the premises of an engineering college here, with three-tier security paraphernalia, officials said.
The votes were being counted in a tight security environment which entailed the deployment of 70 CCTV cameras on the college premises.AIADMK's AC Shanmugam, chief of Puthiya Neethi Katchi, an ally of the ruling party and DMK's DM Kathir Anand were the key contenders of the total 28 candidates in the fray.
However taking to Twitter, the TN Minister D Jayakumar attributed DMK's victory on the capability to spend more on the election campaign and also assured that they will win in the next elections and therefore come back in power.

DMK Vellore candidate Kathir Anand won from Vellore Lok Sabha constituency by a margin of 8141 votes. DMK alliance in total won 38 out of 39 seats in the state.
