Dushyant Chautala whose party JJP won ten seats in the Haryana assembly elections will meet Governor Satyadev Narayan Arya along with CM Manohar Lal Khattar at 11:00 am. Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar has left Chandigarh from Delhi earlier on Saturday. He is also set to attend the BJP legislative party meeting at the UT Guesthouse.

Chautala likely to be made deputy CM

The BJP on Friday clinched an alliance with the JJP in the 90-member assembly, by offering the post of deputy chief minister to Chautala. BJP president Amit Shah announced at a press conference held along with JJP leader Dushyant Chautala held on Friday a that the chief minister will be from his party and the deputy chief minister from the regional party. Incumbent Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar is likely to be elected the BJP legislative party leader at a meeting in Chandigarh on Saturday and will then stake claim before the governor to form the government. Chautala is likely to be his deputy.

Top BJP leaders moved swiftly since Thursday night to cobble together a majority in the 90-member Haryana Assembly after the party's tally fell to 40 in the state, six short of the majority mark. Seven independent MLAs also pledged their support to the party. The BJP's decision to win over Chautala underlines its quest to placate Jats, a dominant community in the state and who are believed to have voted mostly against the saffron party in the recent polls, to ensure a smooth run of its government. As per sources, the BJP-JJP alliance may stake claim to form the government on Saturday.

BJP-JJP join hands to form government in Haryana

"We accept the mandate given to us. We got only 40 seats which is short of a majority but in order to give a stable government to the state we decided to forge an alliance. We have a history of supporting each other," said Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar addressing a joint press conference here on Friday. "We will meet the Governor tomorrow in Chandigarh to stake claim to form government in the state," he said. JJP chief Dushyant Chautala said: "To give a stable government to Haryana it was important for BJP and JJP to come together. I would like to thank Amit Shah Ji and Nadda Ji. Our party had decided that for the betterment of the state it is important to have a stable government."
