Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister G Parameshwara drew criticism from motorists after traffic was halted on the congested road near the busy Hebbal flyover on Tuesday for the minister's convoy to move to the airport. Despite being fully aware of the inconvenience it causes to commuters, the minister said:

"That is a token of respect given to a Home-minister, a deputy CM. If you people have an issue, I will stop using it".

When raised questions regarding previous ministers in power who declined the privilege, he said:

"That is up to them. Just because they had not used, should I also not? It is my decision to use. I know what to do."

As per reports, vehicles were diverted and ambulances were also struck during the incident. However, the Minister declined all the allegations and said:

"All that is false. I have given instructions that not just when I'm traveling, but even when CM, President PM anyone’s convoy shouldn't block ambulance. For HM and CM, basis the work they do, it has been discussed in detail and implemented", he added.

G Parameshwara later took to Twitter to clarify his statement but the attempt only ended up with more criticism coming his way.

“I regret the inconvenience caused to common citizens due to zero traffic. However, managing time is crucial because of many government program and meetings. Governor, Chief Minister and Home Minister have the privilege of zero traffic. I have instructed the police to ensure the least traffic,” he tweeted.
