Indian National Congress (INC) member Sanjay Nirupam has lashed out at fellow party member Mallikarjun Kharge on Monday evening. In a rather explosive tweet, he blamed Kharge of holding a meeting and blaming and mocking Nirupam in the meeting. Nirupam has been on a no-holds-barred mode since a ticket was denied to a party member that he had recommended for the upcoming Maharashtra Assembly polls.
महान नेता खडगे जी ने कल #MRCC में चुनाव की रणनीति बनाने के लिए मीटिंग बुलाई।— Sanjay Nirupam (@sanjaynirupam) October 7, 2019
Nirupam, in a tweet, mocked Kharge by saying that "great leader Kharge ji yesterday of the Mumbai Regional Congress Committee (MRCC) convened a meeting to chalk out election strategy. The meeting was over in 15 minutes. He did not let anyone speak. He himself spoke and went on making fun of me. Will such great strategists suffering from maliciousness save or overcome the Congress?" Nirupam has also hinted at leaving the Congress party on multiple occasions and has blamed former Mumbai Congress Chief Milind Deora of destroying Mumbai Congress. He also said that there weren't any good candidates for the polls.
After the rejection of his recommended candidate, he said that he would not be participating in any poll campaigns. In another tweet, said that he does not want to leave the party, but if the Congress leaders continued to behave in the manner that they were, then the day was not far away when he would actually leave the party. Nirupam had attacked Kharge on Friday as well, when he said, "I remember, when I went to Delhi, I took four candidates with me from Versova, Goregaon, Andheri East, and Dindoshi who were asking for tickets and were good candidates according to me. I took them with me and made them meet with Mr. Kharge. I said these are the four people. I have a personal preference for one but the other three are equally good too, please consider them. Kharge didn’t even talk to anyone. Today’s circumstances are such that all four of them have lost their tickets. None of them got a ticket.”
He also held a press conference where he said that the Congress party had no respect for the work done by the members. He did not hide his thoughts and said, "I am a very grounded person who likes to work for people, and I have been continuing to do so. I like fighting for people and their rights. But the party has no cognizance or value for this. Perhaps, I feel that the hard-working people in Congress like myself have no place in the Congress party anymore. If you ask me about my next step, I feel that I should not leave the party. However, it the situation keeps on getting worse, I don’t think I will be able to stay in the party."
