Congress President Rahul Gandhi has condemned the statements of his party leader CP Joshi, wherein he directed classist slurs at the Prime Minister and senior BJP leader Uma Bharti, saying that his (Joshi's) statements do not resonate with the Party's ideologies.
This translates as: The statement of CP Joshi was contrary to the ideology of the Congress party. Party leaders should not make any such statement that any section of the society should be hurt. While respecting the principles of Congress, the spirit of the workers, Joshiji must surely realize the mistake. He should express regret over their statement.
However, the Congress president is yet to break his silence on another Congress leader, Raj Babbar's shameful statement, where Babbar issued a political attack at the Prime Minister citing the latter's mother, saying: "The Rupee's rate has fallen as low as the Prime Minister's mother's age".
This is hardly the first time that the Congress Party has unleashed personal and derogatory slurs at the Prime Minister himself.
Weeks earlier, another Congress leader, Shashi Tharoor, launched an attack on Modi by comparing him to a ‘scorpion sitting on a Shivling’, and ahead of the Gujarat elections, Mani Shankar Aiyar had called the Prime Minister a ‘neech kisam ka aadmi’.
Following this, BJP party president Amit Shah had listed the 'abuse politics' of Congress, in particular, the slurs used against PM Modi.
