New Delhi: As Swachh Bharat campaign completed its 10 years on Wednesday, October 2, Prime Minister Narendra Modi participated in a cleanliness drive with school children in the national capital.

Prime Minister Modi urged people to contribute towards strengthening the Swachh Bharat Mission.

In a post on X, PM Modi wrote, "Today, on Gandhi Jayanti, I took part in Swachhata related activities with my young friends. I urge you all to also take part in some or the other such activity during the day and at the same time, keep strengthening the Swachh Bharat Mission. #10YearsOfSwachhBharat (sic)."

The Prime Minister also participated in the Swachh Bharat Diwas 2024 program at Vigyan Bhawan in Delhi today, coinciding with the 155th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, marking the completion of 10 years since the launch of one of the most significant mass movements for cleanliness--the Swachh Bharat Mission.

“As we mark #10YearsOfSwachhBharat, I salute the unwavering spirit of 140 crore Indians for making cleanliness a ‘Jan Andolan,” the PM wrote in another tweet.

He asserted that the Swachh Bharat Mission has become the largest and most successful people's movement in the century with mass participation and public leadership.

Addressing a gathering on completion of 10 years of the Mission, he said the Swachh Bharat campaign is not just a cleanliness movement but a new path to prosperity. "Through continuous efforts we can make India clean," he added

The Swachh Bharat Mission was launched on 2nd October, 2014 following a powerful address by PM Modi from the ramparts of the Red Fort, calling for cleanliness to become a national priority and urging citizens to join in this mission. The Mission embraced a 'whole-of-government' approach to make sanitation the responsibility of all.
