14-Year-Old Dalit Girl Kidnapped, Burnt with Acid and Gangraped in UP's Moradabad

Moradabad: A 14-year-old minor girl was subjected to kidnapping, torture and gangrape in Uttar Pradesh's Moradabad district. The teen was abducted in the first week of January, after which she was kidnapped, tortured, and gangraped several times; one of the accused in the case has been arrested.

According to the complainant, who is the victim's uncle, his niece was kidnapped in a car, in Moradabad, while she was on her way to the tailor; the victim was rendered unconscious with the help of an intoxicant. As per the complaint, the Dalit girl was then held captive in a room, where she was tortured and gangraped multiple times.

The Bhagatpur Police Station SHO Sanjay Kumar Panchal said that according to the complaint filed, “the accused allegedly burnt an ‘Om’ tattoo on her hand with acid, forcibly fed her meat, and subjected her to further torture”. He further said, “She was later taken to the Bhojpur area and locked in another room, from which she eventually escaped and returned home to her aunt, a few days ago.”

UP Gangrape: 1 Accused Arrested, Investigation Underway

Based on the complaint filed by the victim's family, four accused - Arif, Zubair, Rashid and Salman, have been booked under the relevant sections of the BNS, POSCO Act and the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act. The accused had threatened to kill the victim and her family if she told anyone about the incident; the family was also threatened to drop the case, once the complaint was filed.

The registration of the case at the Bhagatpur Police Station has been confirmed by Kunwar Akash Singh, SP (Rural) and he further said, “One of the accused, Salman, was arrested on Tuesday and subsequently sent to jail. The investigation is ongoing.”
