24 People Killed, 2 Missing In Tripura Torrential Rains: CM Manik Saha
Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha said that as many as 24 people have been killed in the torrential rains in the state.
Agartala: As many as 24 people have been killed and two others went missing in the wake of torrential rainfall, said Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha on Saturday.
"I have never seen this kind of torrential rain in Tripura which has been going on since August 19. All 8 districts of Tripura are affected. Many places are disconnected now. I am trying to go to every place but the road is damaged and water-logging has occurred at different roads," Chief Minister Saha said.
"I went to local areas physically. I surveyed the places through a chopper. I visited relief camps. I talked to different people in the relief camps," he added.
CM Saha said that he is reviewing the situation on daily basis.
"I review the situation daily. I am in touch with all officials from different various departments," he said.
Earlier, Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha on Friday visited the shelter house at Bokafa HS School, where 305 flood-displaced individuals have taken refuge. He instructed officials to deliver essential support and amenities to ensure the comfort and well-being of those affected by the floods.
"Visited the Bokafa HS school shelter house, where 305 flood-affected individuals have sought refuge after losing everything. I've directed officials to provide essential support & amenities to ensure their comfort & well-being. We're committed to standing by them through this challenging time," CM Manik Saha said.
