26-Year-Old Mumbai Woman, Mother of 2, Killed By Speeding SUV; Driver Arrested

Mumbai: In a tragic incident, a A 26-year-old woman was killed after being hit by a speeding SUV in Malad area of Mumbai on Tuesday night.
The accident which claimed the life of the woman, identified as Shahana Kaazi, was reported in Gudiya Pada locality.
According to source, the woman was allegedly knocked down and dragged to several metres by the car which led to her death.
After receiving the information about the crash, a police team rushed to the spot and arrested the accused.
The accused has been identified as Anuj Singh, a Merchant Navy officer. Currently, it is being investigated whether the Singh as under the influence of alcohol at the time of the accident. His blood samples have been sent for testing and the reports are awaited.
According to a eyewitness, the deceased is survived by two children.
"The woman, identified as Shahana Kaazi, was walking when she was hit by a Ford Endeavor around 10 pm. After the accident, the accused himself took the woman to a nearby hospital, where she died during treatment," news agency PTI quoted an official of Malad police station as saying.
Meanwhile, Sinha as been booked under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) His vehicle has also been seized by the police.
The accused has an office in Andheri and he was on leave when the incident occurred, police added. An investigation into the case is underway.
