Gwalior: A five-year-old girl from Shivpuri, Madhya Pradesh, is fighting for her life after a sexual assault. She remains in critical condition at Gwalior’s Kamala Raja Hospital, where doctors performed a two-hour operation, including a colostomy procedure and 28 stitches in her private parts.
The accused, a 17-year-old boy, has been arrested and is being tried as a juvenile, police said. According to officials, the accused was allegedly intoxicated at the time of the assault. He reportedly slammed the child’s head against a wall multiple times before subjecting her to further brutality. Her injuries include severe head trauma, multiple cuts, scratches, and bite marks across her body.
On February 23, the girl went missing from her home and was found nearly two hours later, unconscious and covered in blood, on the terrace of a neighboring house. Although she regained consciousness after surgery, she has not spoken since the attack.
The girl's family has demanded the death penalty for the accused. "He should be shot openly on the road," her mother told a leading portal, expressing her anguish.

The teacher, a native of West Bengal, also allegedly threatened and blackmailed the girl, police said.
The matter came to light when the girl, accompanied by her father, lodged a police complaint.
"The minor alleged that she had been attending tuition classes conducted by the accused since 2022. She alleged that the accused mentally harassed and raped her multiple times in the tuition centre," Deputy Commissioner of Police (South) Ankit Chauhan said.
She alleged that the accused also threatened and blackmailed her, the DCP said.
Based on the complaint, a case was registered against the tutor under Section 64 (rape) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, the officer said.
