Hardoi (UP): A three-year-old boy abducted from a Tilak ceremony in Hardoi was rescued from Telangana after a 28-day search and reunited with his family, police confirmed on Monday.
The child, Hrithik, was kidnapped on February 21 from Gauriyakala village in the Atrauli police station area. Despite extensive searches using sniffer dogs and drones, he could not be found immediately.
Superintendent of Police (SP) Neeraj Kumar said, "Three men, Abhay Verma from Sitapur, Umashankar from Lucknow, and Sonia alias Sunita from Delhi, have been arrested for their involvement in the kidnapping and sale of the child."
During the investigation, police discovered two similar cases in Sitapur, where three-year-old Aryan and Kartik had also disappeared. Connecting the cases, they identified Abhay Verma, Umashankar, and Sonia alias Sunita as key suspects.
"When the police interrogated this woman, the whole secret was revealed that all the children were sold in Telangana," SP Kumar stated.
Following the lead, a police team was sent to Telangana, where they successfully rescued Hrithik.
The SP further revealed that the children were being sold for ₹5 lakh each. "A team is currently working to recover the other two children from Sitapur," he added.
The police have assured that the trafficking network is being dismantled, and efforts are underway to bring all missing children home safely.
