Mumbai: Customs officials at Mumbai International Airport have seized 32.79 kg of gold worth Rs 19.15 crore in separate cases involving two foreign women. The gold was concealed in both undergarments and luggage. The seizure underscores the ongoing efforts to combat illegal smuggling activities at the airport.
After arriving at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport on Monday, two passengers from African countries were subjected to a search based on suspicion. According to an official, they searched them and led to the discovery of the concealed gold in their undergarments and luggage.
In both cases, gold was found concealed in undergarments and baggage. The women have been arrested, and investigations are ongoing.
