Patna: A large quantity of foreign liquor bottles was recovered from a school van in Bihar 's Banka on Saturday, as per media reports.
The police stated that as many as 929 liquor bottles had been seized from the yellow Maximo mini van hidden from under the seats and the roof.
A complaint has been filed against both the van driver and its owner. While the driver fled the scene, authorities have initiated a manhunt to track him down.

In a statement, Bihar police confirmed,m "A total of 319.125 litres of foreign liquor were seized from 01 school van during patrolling on 21.03.2025 and raids are being conducted to arrest the accused and further action is being taken."
This incident mirrors a similar case in Hyderabad, where an entire school building was discovered to be filled not with students, but with liquor bottles and cigarette butts. The school, constructed under the Rajiv Vidya Mission in Balreddy Nagar, Film Nagar, had no students enrolled, despite costing the government nearly 43 lakhs to build. Shockingly, the government never inaugurated the building.

During the raid, investigators found six classrooms littered with broken bottles and cigarette stubs. Some electrical fixtures, including switchboards and tube lights, were also missing. Reportedly, two men were found sleeping on the terrace, visibly intoxicated. This issue is not limited to Bihar or Hyderabad—other parts of India are facing similar challenges. For instance, in Madhya Pradesh , a private school was sealed after liquor bottles and condoms were discovered in the principal's office during a surprise inspection.
These incidents highlight the growing concern over the misuse of government property across the country, with some students even being forced to study under trees due to the neglect of their school infrastructure.
