Ahmedabad: A shocking incident of mob violence occurred in Ahmedabad's Juna Wadaj area, where a large crowd of over 100 people stormed the Ram colony, with sticks, iron rods and swords, damaging vehicles and threatening the people residing there. The disturbing incident was captured on CCTV cameras installed in the society, which showed the mob entering the society and vandalising parked vehicles, causing chaos and fear among the residents.
According to reports, the violence was a retaliatory attack following a dispute between the Sikh and Bharwad communities in the area. Apparently, it is being claimed that some members of the Sikh community had asked the people belonging to the Bharwad community to maintain peace in the area and not create a ruckus. Miffed over this, the people from the Bharwad community allegedly warned them of retaliation.
Meanwhile, on Friday night, a massive crowd of over 100 people descended upon the society, unleashing vandalism and destruction.
The police were promptly informed, and residents were seen filing complaints. The authorities have arrested two individuals in connection with the incident and are working to identify the rest of the perpetrators using CCTV footage. A heavy police presence has been maintained in the society to ensure the safety and security of the residents, who are still reeling from the shock of the incident.
