Ghaziabad: Air India Express is set to expand its connectivity in the National Capital Region (NCR) with 40 weekly flights from Hindon Airport. These flights will connect five key destinations—Bengaluru, Chennai, Goa , Jammu, and Kolkata.
Union Minister for Civil Aviation, Rammohan Naidu, inaugurated the airline’s new services from Hindon Airport in Ghaziabad.
The first Kolkata-Hindon flight landed at 9:30 AM, while the first outbound flight to Goa took off at 10:40 AM.
To mark the occasion, the Union Minister presented the first passenger with a commemorative boarding pass.
With this expansion, Air India Express has become the first airline to operate from two airports in the NCR—Indira Gandhi International Airport (DEL) and Hindon Airport (HDO).
This expansion will cater to passengers from North and East Delhi, as well as Western Uttar Pradesh. Key areas such as Ghaziabad, Meerut, Noida, Akshardham, Anand Vihar, Chandni Chowk, Indirapuram, ITO, Karol Bagh, and Vaishali will have easier access to air services.
Passengers travelling from Bengaluru, Chennai, Goa, and Kolkata will also gain quicker access to the NCR.
Air India Express is set to launch daily flights (except Saturdays) between Hindon and Jammu from March 23, 2025. The departure from Hindon is scheduled for 1:30 AM, with the return flight from Jammu at 1:00 PM.
At the inauguration, the Civil Aviation Minister emphasized that Hindon Airport will complement existing operations at Indira Gandhi International Airport.
“The launch of services from Hindon will complement existing operations at Indira Gandhi International Airport, reflecting the government’s vision of expanding aviation infrastructure to meet the growing demand for air travel,” said Rammohan Naidu, Union Minister for Civil Aviation.
Aloke Singh, Managing Director of Air India Express, highlighted the importance of multiple airports serving metropolitan regions.
“As India’s aviation market grows, major cities can be served by multiple airports, similar to London, New York, and Tokyo. Our services from Hindon will complement our extensive operations from Indira Gandhi International Airport, from where we serve 18 domestic and four international destinations,” said Singh.
He also noted the airline’s continued expansion: “As our fleet crosses the 100-aircraft mark, we remain committed to offering a seamless and affordable flying experience across India, the Middle East, and Southeast Asia.”
Air India Express, a Tata Enterprise and a subsidiary of Air India, has recently expanded its operations to over 400 daily flights, connecting 39 domestic and 16 international airports. The airline’s fleet currently consists of 100 aircraft, with further expansion planned in India and abroad.
