Aligarh Muslim University Student Found Dead Outside Hostel Room

A 25-year-old master's student at Aligarh Muslim University died by hanging outside his hostel room on Friday, Police reported. 

Mohammad Shakir, a first-year MA Theology student, was discovered hanging from an iron rod concealed in a corner outside his room at 'Mumbai Hostel' on the university premises, as stated by AMU Proctor Mohamad Waseem Ali. 

Shakir was seen in his room until around 10 pm last night and had also eaten his evening meal as usual, according to AMU Proctor Mohamad Waseem Ali. His roommates mentioned that he seemed normal. 

AMU authorities have informed the police and Shakir's family, who live in Lakhimpur Kheri district. 

Ali added that further investigations are currently in progress. 

In an Unrelated similar incident, A 23-year-old student from Rangaraya Medical College died by suicide in his hostel during the night between Monday and Tuesday, confirmed a police official. 

The student was identified as R Sai Ram, who took his own life in his hostel room while his roommate was studying in another room, the police added. 

The police have registered a case under Section 194 of BNS.
