Amritsar Drug Raid: BSF, Punjab Police Seizes Packet Containing 550 Grams of Heroin

Amritsar: In a successful joint operation, the Border Security Force and Punjab Police recovered a packet of suspected heroin weighing 550 grams in a field near the village of Daoke in the Amritsar district, an official statement said on Friday.
"Based on specific information of the BSF Intelligence wing about heroin presence,received on October 3, the forces swung into action and successfully recovered one narcotics packet in the night hours," BSF PRO said.
"The narcotics packet was wrapped in yellow adhesive tape, further secured with blue tape. A steel ring and a mini torch were also found attached to the packet, " the PRO added.
In addition, the SAS Nagar Police dismantled an international drug syndicate and arrested two individuals, Sukhdeep Singh and Krishan. The operation resulted in the seizure of 1.5 kg of heroin and revealed Afghan handlers based in Delhi who are linked to international drug cartels. Sukhdeep Singh, who had previously been involved in a kidnapping case in 2020, had been out on bail since May 2024. Punjab Police stated that the operation disrupted global narcotics supply chains, delivering a significant blow to international drug cartels and protecting the youth of Punjab. The police emphasized their commitment to creating a drug-free state.
"Reliable information with a quick coordinated response of BSF and Punjab police made yet another successful recovery of narcotics consignment smuggled by drone from across the border," BSF said.
