Arrested Suraj Revanna's Sexual Assault Case Transferred to CID | What Next?

New Delhi: The Karnataka government has transferred Janata Dal (Secular) MLC Suraj Revanna's sexual assault case to the Crime Investigation Department (CID) on Sunday, June 23. Suraj, brother of rape-accused former MP Prajwal Revanna was arrested earlier that day in connection with a sexual assault case, as per officials.

As per reports, Suraj will be produced before the magistrate in the people's representative court where the days of custody will be given.

The Superintendent of Police, Hassan district is directed to send the case file to the concerned IO (Investigation Officer) to hand over personally to the Investigation Officer in CID, the notice said.

Furthermore, the Director General of Police, CID (Special Units and Economic Offences), Bengaluru has been asked to arrange to take up further investigation and to send a detailed report after the completion of the investigation of the case.

The eldest son of Holenarasipura MLA H D Revanna, Suraj was arrested after a 27-year-old man complained to the police that Suraj had sexually abused him at his farmhouse in Ghannikada on June 16.

Based on the complaint, the Holenarasipura police registered a case against the JD(S) MLC under IPC Sections 377 (unnatural offences), 342 (wrongful confinement) and 506 (criminal intimidation) late on Saturday evening.

After the case was transferred, Home Minister Parameshwara speaking to reporters said that after a complaint was filed against Suraj, police registered an FIR, they have secured Suraj Revanna and the inquiry is going on.

He said, "Whatever action needs to be taken on that, will be taken."

'Time Will Come': HD Revanna on Case Being Transferred to CID

On being asked about the case being transferred to CID, HD Revanna told Republic Media Network, "Let them hand over to CID…I don’t want to speak anything about this... I have faith in the judicial... I know what is happening in the state... I don’t want to speak about that... I have faith in god.. and the judicial system… I am not worried about the conspiracy..time will decide everything... I don’t know who is behind it. I don’t want to speak about that.. we have seen what has happened in the last 3 days .. time will come..."

Suraj's brother and former Hassan MP Prajwal is also in police custody for allegedly sexually assaulting several women in his constituency.

Meanwhile, their parents H D Revanna and mother Bhavani are out on bail. They have been accused of kidnapping and keeping an alleged victim of their son Prajwal's sexual assaults.
