New Delhi: At least 9 were killed and multiple others were injured after a powerful blast occurred near gate number 1 of the Red Fort Metro Station in Delhi on Monday evening. According to reports, the injured were hospitalised at the LNJP Hospital and are undergoing treatment. Following the incident, the teams of NSG, along with the teams of Special Cell and Crime Branch, have rushed to the spot, and the area has been cordoned off.
According to police sources, the explosion, which occurred in a Hyundai i20 car around 7 pm, damaged nearby vehicles and left multiple of them ablaze, triggering a high alert across the nation.
The locals stated that the blast was so powerful that it shattered the windows of nearby buildings and was heard around 3 km away. The impact was so severe that bodies were charred beyond recognition.
Immediately after the blast, Union Home Minister Amit Shah visited the blast site and met with the injured at Lok Nayak Jai Prakash Hospital, and assured a thorough investigation into the incident.

Later, addressing the media, he asserted, "All possibilities are being explored, and we will conduct a thorough investigation, taking all options into account."
Meanwhile, Delhi Police have registered a case under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA), the Explosives Act, and the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. The police are investigating the incident and connecting the dots to identify the perpetrators and ascertain the cause of the blast.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has expressed his condolences to the families of the victims and assured assistance to those affected. The government has also sounded a high alert in Delhi and other major cities as a precautionary measure.
The injured are being treated at nearby hospitals, with one person reported to be in stable condition. The death toll is expected to rise as the investigation continues.
Amidst the ongoing investigation into the Delhi Red Fort blast case, the owner of the i20 car, which was used in the explosion, was identified as Mohd Salman. The vehicle, a white petrol/CNG car registered in 2014, has been traced back to Mohd Salman, who has been taken into custody by the police.
Salman, the first owner of the car, claimed that he had sold the vehicle to an unknown individual. The police are now probing to track down the buyer.
