ATM Heist In Surat: Robbers Use Gas Cutter To Break Machine, Steal Rs 18 Lakh in 15 Minutes

In a major heist, five robbers broke into a bank ATM in Surat and stole Rs 18 lakh in cash from the machine using gas cutter, police said.

Surat: In a major heist, five robbers broke into a bank ATM in Surat and stole Rs 18 lakh in cash from the machine, police said on Friday. 

Police said that the thieves arrived in an SUV and successfully attempted the robbery in 15 minutes. 

How Did Robbers Managed To Loot ATM In 15 Minutes

According to the police, the robbers first disconnected the siren and alerted the people when someone tried to break into the machine. 

“They sprayed black paint on the CCTV camera,” police said. 

Following these steps, they cut the lower part of the ATM with a gas cutter and stole the cash inside, said cops while adding that the whole process of the loot was finished inside 15 minutes. ]

Police are suspecting that the act has footprints of a professional gang which requires special skills.

Earlier, a case has been registered under BNS Sections 305, 331(4), 332(c) and 334(1) against five unknown persons and further investigation is underway in the matter, cops said. 

Meanwhile, two persons have been apprehended or allegedly robbing Rs 19.51 lakh from a bank in Jammu and Kashmir's Kishtwar district.  

Police officials said that Rs 14 lakh of the stolen money has also been recovered based on the information provided by the arrested individuals.

On February 3, the branch manager of a bank in Dachhan registered a complaint about a robbery of Rs 19,51,600 (Rs 19.51 lakh) by unidentified assailants.
