Avalanche Strikes Beighpura Kamasui Kedna Amid Heavy Snowfall in Jammu's Kishtwar | WATCH

Jammu: An avalanche struck Beighpura Kamasui Kedna amid heavy snowfall in the Panchayat Inderwal area of Kishtwar district, Jammu, on Thursday.

The avalanche caused serious damage to the road infrastructure, completely blocking the road and disrupting connectivity in the region.

 In a video, the avalanche was seen rumbling down a snow-covered mountainside and a few people and livestock were seen rushing out of the area.

Fortunately, all residents in the affected area have been reported safe.

Efforts are currently underway to assess the full extent of the damage and restore access. Authorities are working to clear the road and ensure the safety of the residents.

IMD Issues Warning

The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a warning on Thursday for heavy to very heavy rainfall across several states and Union Territories.

The IMD bulletin predicted heavy rainfall and snowfall at isolated locations over Jammu-Kashmir-Ladakh-Gilgit-Baltistan-Muzaffarabad, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand on February 27 and 28.

While some isolated pockets of Punjab are also expected to experience heavy rainfall on February 28, both Punjab and Haryana also get isolated hailstorm warnings.
