Dehradun: The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange alert for heavy rain and snowfall in several districts of Uttarakhand, including Uttarkashi, Chamoli, and Rudraprayag on Friday.
IMD Alert Amid Badrinath Glacier Burst
The IMD has warned that the weather conditions could lead to disruptions in daily life, including potential road blockages and difficulties in transportation. Residents in the affected areas are advised to take necessary precautions and stay updated with the latest weather forecasts.
Authorities have urged people to avoid unnecessary travel and to stay indoors during the adverse weather conditions. The Border Roads Organisation (BRO) has been deployed to clear snow from key routes, ensuring that essential services remain operational.

Chamoli Police Uttarakhand uploaded a post stating that all roads and highways are closed owing to heavy rain and landslides near Nandprayag.
The IMD has also forecasted that the weather will continue to change over the next few days, with rain and snowfall expected in many districts, particularly in areas with an altitude of more than 3,200 meters. Travellers and local residents are advised to be cautious and follow safety guidelines to minimise the risk of accidents and injuries.
