New Delhi: West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, currently on a week-long visit to the UK, confronted by audience during her address at Kellogg College, Oxford University on Thursday. The session, meant to focus on Social Development, Girl Child, and Women Empowerment, quickly turned chaotic as attendees grilled her on Tata’s exit from Bengal, development issues, Hindu concerns, and the RG Kar rape-murder case.

Audience Fires Tough Questions

About 33 minutes into her speech, members of the audience interrupted her, demanding answers about why the Tatas left Bengal, her stance on Hindus, and her government’s handling of the RG Kar Hospital case, where a 30-year-old doctor was brutally murdered. The exchange grew heated, with Mamata trying to respond but being repeatedly interrupted. The atmosphere turned chaotic, forcing her to defend her record amid a barrage of criticism.

The incident has sparked a wave of reactions on social media, with netizens divided in their views. Many slammed Mamata for being unable to handle the confrontation and tough questions, while other defended that this incident was politically motivated against Mamata Banerjee.

One user wrote, "Who will answer for Sandeshkhali, post-poll violence, and the atrocities against Hindus?"

Another wrote, "This came out of the syllabus for Mamata," mocking her for being unprepared for critical questions. Some even predicted that Mamata would lose Bengal in the 2026 elections, claiming that public frustration with her governance is growing.

A third user wrote, “2026 mamta will definitely lose bengal election”.
