Bengaluru: A horrific murder has come to light near Hulimavu, Bengaluru, where a man allegedly killed his wife, dismembered her body, and stuffed the remains into a suitcase.
The accused, identified as Rakesh from Maharashtra, reportedly informed his wife’s parents about the crime over a phone call. The victim has been identified as a 32-year-old Gauri Anil Sambekar.
The couple, both employees of a private company, had been working from home and residing in Doddakannahalli for the past year.
Following a tip-off from Maharashtra Police, the Hulimavu Police reached the residence and launched an investigation. DCP Sarah Fatima also visited the crime scene for inspection. Further details on the case are awaited.
The incident comes nearly a week after a 37-year-old real estate businessman was allegedly murdered by his wife and mother-in-law in Bengaluru, reportedly due to his multiple extramarital affairs and illegal business dealings. Both accused have been arrested.
According to the police, the crime was uncovered when the body of the victim, Loknath Singh, was found inside an abandoned car in a deserted area of Chikkabanavara on Saturday.
A preliminary investigation revealed that the accused had spiked the victim’s food with sleeping pills to make him drowsy. They later drove him to a secluded location, where they slit his throat with a knife before fleeing the scene.
Police have linked the murder to Singh’s alleged extramarital affairs and illegal financial activities, suggesting these factors may have led to the fatal attack.
