New Delhi: The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has asked several states to conduct mock drills to strengthen civil defence preparedness as India plans strong response to Pahalgam terror attack.

According to the government sources, the MHA has asked several states to conduct mock drills for items for effective civil defence on May 7 as the country prepares for a major operation to teach Pakistan , perpetrators, handlers and their backers a lesson they will never forget.

The mock drills which will be conducted on May 7 will test the civil defence security apparatus on various factors including:

  • To assess the effectiveness of air raid warning systems.
  • Operationalisation of Hotline/Radio communication links with the Indian Air Force.
  • To test the functionality of control rooms and shadow control rooms.
  • Training of civilians, students, etc, on the civil defence aspects to protect themselves in the event of hostile attack.
  • Provision of crash black out measures.
  • Provision for early camouflaging of vital plants and installations.
  • To verify the activation and response of Civil Defence services, including warden services, firefighting, rescue operations, and depot management.
  • To assess the implementation of crash blackout measures.
  • To evaluate the preparedness of evacuation plans and their execution.

Civil Defence is considered an integral component of Nation's Passive Defence strategy. The implementation of Civil Defence measures in the vulnerable areas is governed by the Civil Defence Act, 1968.

In the current geo-political scenario, new and complex threats/challenges have emerged, hence, it would be prudent that optimum Civil Defence preparedness in the States/UTs is maintained at all times, the Ministry of Home Affairs informed.

MHA direction for mock drills big indication for India's strong response to Pahalgam avenge

The government asking states to prepare and conduct mock drills is a big indication from the Centre that the New Delhi is preparing a big operation on terror perpetrators in Pakistan.

India has been on high alert ever since the Pahalgam terror attack when Pakistan backed terrorists shot dead innocent civilians who were visiting Kashmir for vacation. Terrorists targeted Indians, singled out and hand picked Hindus and killed them brutally in front of their wife, children and parents.

PM Modi warns Pahalgam attackers

Prime Minister Narendra Modi in an open warning made it clear that India will identify and bring terror perpetrators, their handlers and backers to justice, two days after Pahalgam terror attack which claimed the lives of 27 innocent civilians.

Ever since then PM Modi has been holding out high level security meetings with top officials including National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar, Air Force, Army and Navy chiefs, among other key officials and ministers to plan a strong response to Pakistan which is behind the deadly Pahalgam terror attack.

The Indian armed forces have been moving sophisticated weapons near border and Line of Control (LoC), conducting troops mobilisation, carrying out extensive security drills, which is worrying Pakistan and creating panic in Islamabad.

What you desire will happen, you know PM Modi: Rajnath Singh

On Sunday, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh made a big comment and assured citizens that the government will do what people desire in response to the Pahalgam terror attack saying they know PM Modi.

"You all know Prime Minister Narendra Modi's work ethic and perseverance... You are aware of his efficiency and determination... You are aware of the way he has learnt to take risks in his life... I want to assure you that under the leadership of PM Modi 'jaisa aap chahte hain waisa hokar rahega (Whatever you want will happen)," said Defence Minister Rajnath Singh.
