New Delhi: BJP has raised questions on Rahul Gandhi’s frequent foreign trips, especially to Vietnam saying the Opposition leader was allegedly travelling aboard without public disclosure.
The saffron party said that Leader of Opposition’s frequent visit to foreign nations especially to Vietnam was raising concerns about ‘national security’.
Taking to X, formerly Twitter, BJP IT Cell chief Amit Malviya wrote, “It is important that the Congress clarifies Rahul Gandhi’s frequent foreign travels, the details of which are neither disclosed to Parliament nor made public.“
“Udit Raj, a senior party spokesperson, confirms his latest trip but only speculates on the reasons. As the Leader of the Opposition, Rahul Gandhi holds a crucial position, and his numerous clandestine trips abroad—especially while Parliament is in session—raise serious questions about propriety and national security,” Amit Malviya added.
While Amit Malviya linked national security concerns with Rahul’s foreign trips, another BJP leader and former Union Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad said that the Leader of Opposition was having a curious and extraordinary fondness for Vietnam as he earlier celebrated New Year and now Holi also? The BJP leader said that he has been informed that the Congress scion had spent 22 days in Vietnam adding he hasn’t spent this much time in his own constituency, Rae Bareli.
Earlier when asked by reporters the reason behind Rahul Gandhi’s latest foreign visit, Congress leader Udit Raj said, “It could be personal, or not. It could be political, social, for study, meditation, reading, solitude—there could be many reasons”.
The Congress leader’s answer clearly indicates that either they themselves don’t know the actual reason behind Rahul’s foreign visits or they have been instructed not to make it public.
Previously also, BJP had questioned Rahul Gandhi's last visit to Vietnam when the country was mourning the demise of former Prime Minster Manmohan Singh. However, the Congress said that Rahul Gandhi had gone there to study an economic model.
