Imphal: Two earthquakes of magnitudes 5.7 and 4.1 struck Manipur within an hour on Wednesday, according to the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) Manipur Centre. The tremors were felt across several parts of the state, but there were no immediate reports of damage or casualties.  

The first earthquake, measuring 5.7 on the Richter scale, occurred at 11:06 AM, followed by a second tremor of 4.1 magnitude at 12:20 PM, as per the National Centre for Seismology (NCS). Both quakes had their epicentre in Kamjong, a district bordering Myanmar.  

A central government official near Imphal Airport confirmed experiencing the tremors. "We felt the first earthquake in our office," the official stated.  

Earlier in the day, two mild earthquakes also struck Myanmar, with magnitudes 4.7 and 4.5, occurring at 3:36 AM and 3:54 AM, respectively.
