Mumbai: A massive fire broke out on a truck carrying highly flammable gas cylinders on the Sion-Dharavi Link Road in Mumbai's Dharavi area. According to eyewitnesses, the fire triggered a series of powerful explosions due to the presence of gas cylinders. On information, the Mumbai police team along with the Mumbai Fire Brigade sprang into action, declaring the incident a Level-II fire. The firefighters and emergency teams rushed to the scene, battling the raging flames and working to prevent further explosions.

"I was driving by when I saw the truck engulfed in flames," said eyewitness Rohan Desai. "The explosions were deafening. I'm just glad no one was seriously hurt."

The dramatic incident occurred in Mumbai's Dharavi area on Monday evening, as a fire broke out following a blast in two gas cylinders loaded on a truck. Fortunately, no casualties were reported, but the incident sparked widespread panic and brought traffic to a grinding halt on the busy Sion-Dharavi link road.

According to eyewitnesses, the blaze began at around 9.50 pm, when the truck was navigating the Sion-Dharavi link road, near Nature Park in PNGP Colony. The driver, who has been taken into custody by Dharavi police, was reportedly behind the wheel when the gas cylinders exploded, triggering the fire.

"We were in the vicinity when we heard a loud explosion, followed by a massive fire," said a local resident, who wished to remain anonymous. "It was a chaotic scene, with people running helter-skelter to safety. Thankfully, no one was injured, but the damage to nearby vehicles was extensive," he stated.

The inferno, which was declared a level 2 fire at 10.07 pm, was eventually brought under control with the assistance of 19 fire tenders. However, not before it had damaged four vehicles and caused a major traffic jam on the arterial Sion-Dharavi link road.

"We responded promptly to the emergency call and deployed our team to douse the flames," said a civic official. He added, "Our primary concern was to prevent the fire from spreading to nearby residential areas and to ensure the safety of pedestrians and motorists."

The cause of the fire is currently being investigated, with authorities scrutinising the circumstances surrounding the gas cylinder blast.

Following the explosion, the authorities launched an investigation into the incident, seeking to ascertain the cause of the fire and whether any safety protocols were breached.

Further details regarding the incident are awaited.
