New Delhi: Passengers on IndiGo flight 6E-6313 from Delhi to Raipur were held inside the aircraft for nearly 30 to 40 minutes on Wednesday afternoon after a technical issue delayed the opening of the plane’s door following landing, officials familiar with the matter confirmed.

Delay After Landing Causes Discomfort

The flight landed at around 2:20 PM at Raipur airport, but passengers were unable to disembark due to what the airline later described as a “minor technical issue.”

According to Raipur Mayor Meenal Choubey, who was onboard, the crew initially attempted to resolve the problem themselves before external assistance was called in.

“When we inquired about the delay, the crew informed us of a technical problem and said they were trying to fix it. Eventually, we requested them to call for external help. Only after that did ground staff manage to open the door,” Choubey told reporters.

She added that although the situation did not cause panic, recent aviation incidents particularly the Ahmedabad crash had left many passengers feeling uneasy. “Even minor issues now bring back unsettling memories,” she said.

Former CM Bhupesh Baghel Among the Passengers

Former Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel was also on board the same flight and confirmed that passengers remained inside the aircraft for nearly 40 minutes due to the door malfunction.

“There was a malfunction, and passengers had to wait inside. Thankfully, it was resolved without further issues,” he said.

IndiGo Confirms Incident, Issues Apology

In a statement released shortly after the reports emerged, IndiGo Airlines acknowledged the incident and said safety protocols were followed before opening the door.

“Flight 6E-6313 from Delhi to Raipur on June 18, 2025, experienced a delay in opening the aircraft door after landing due to a minor technical issue. The door was opened following standard safety checks,” the airline said in an official statement.

“We sincerely regret the inconvenience caused and thank our passengers for their patience and understanding,” the spokesperson added.

Aviation Safety Under Scrutiny

The incident comes just days after a tragic crash involving Air India flight AI171 in Ahmedabad, which has heightened public sensitivity to technical issues in commercial aviation. While the IndiGo issue did not pose any direct threat to passenger safety, it sparked concern and renewed discussions on maintenance protocols and emergency response measures.
