New Delhi: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Anil Sharma has reiterated that every poor woman in Delhi will receive ₹2500, with registration set to begin soon.

He hinted that a major announcement will come on March 8, assuring that the promise made to women will be fulfilled under Chief Minister Rekha Gupta.

He also accused the previous Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government of hiding the CAG report for 10 years, stating that all scams will be exposed. Sharma emphasized that under Prime Minister Narendra Modi ’s leadership, Delhi will witness honest governance.

Ahead of the polls, the BJP’s manifesto aimed to outdo the Aam Aadmi Party’s announcement of Rs 2,100 in monthly support if it came to power.

Gupta also reaffirmed that delivering on their promises is her top priority.

“Fulfilling the dream of Prime Minister Narendra Modi is the responsibility of all 48 BJP MLAs in the capital. We will definitely fulfill all our promises, including financial support for women. Women will 100 percent receive monetary support into their accounts by March 8,” she said.

The AAP and the ruling BJP clashed over the ₹2,500 scheme, with former Delhi CM Atishi accusing the BJP government of "betraying" Delhi’s women by not implementing it as promised in the first Cabinet meeting on February 20.

In response, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta criticized AAP, stating that her government will not be dictated to and reaffirming that the scheme will be launched in due time.

Speaking in the Assembly on February 28 during the Motion of Thanks to the Lieutenant Governor’s speech, Gupta reiterated that the scheme would be rolled out soon. She took a swipe at Atishi for repeatedly raising the issue, recalling that Atishi had visited her office on her second day in the Assembly to ask about the ₹2,500 payout.

“I welcomed her, and the first thing she asked was, ‘When will you give the ₹2,500?’ I assured her, ‘Atishi Ji, don’t worry. We will fulfill our promises,’” Gupta said.

Rekha Gupta became Delhi’s Chief Minister after the BJP’s landslide victory, securing 48 out of 70 seats, while AAP won the remaining 22.
