Delhi-NCR Earthquake: On Friday afternoon, residents of Noida and Ghaziabad in Delhi-NCR were shaken by Earthquake tremors. According to the United States Geological Survey (USGS), the earthquake originated in Myanmar, with a magnitude of 7.7 on the Richter Scale, hitting at a depth of 10 km (6.2 miles) at around 11:50 AM.
The epicenter was located approximately 17.2 km from the city of Mandalay, which has a population of over 1.2 million. Following this, another earthquake of magnitude 6.4 struck Myanmar at around 12:02 PM, with the epicenter located 18 km south of Sagaing.
Terrifying Videos Surface from Thailand and Beyond
The earthquake’s impact extended well beyond India, with tremors being felt in several countries.
Terrifying videos shared on social media platforms, particularly on X (formerly Twitter), show buildings in northern and central Thailand violently shaking, while people scrambled to safety.

One video from the popular tourist city of Chiang Mai showed a skyscraper with an infinity pool rocking violently, causing water to spill over the edge.
Tremors Felt Across Southeast Asia
In addition to Thailand, the earthquake’s tremors were also felt in several parts of Vietnam, including Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, where buildings swayed, and lights flickered due to the seismic activity. In Bangkok, the capital of Thailand, large crowds fled buildings as tremors shook the city.

Visuals shared on social media showed intense shaking, with water splashing out of swimming pools and an under-construction building reportedly collapsing.

Both the 7.7 and 6.4 magnitude earthquakes jolted Myanmar, though reports from the country are still awaited regarding the extent of the damage.
