BREAKING: ED Arrests AAP's Amanatullah Khan After 6-Hour Raid in Waqf Land Case
The Enforcement Directorate on Monday raided the residence of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA Amanatullah Khan.
New Delhi: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Monday arrested Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA Amanatullah Khan after conducting searches at his Delhi residence in connection with a Waqf land case.
After ED reached his residence at around 7am on Monday, Amanatullah Khan shared the information on his X account, alleging the ED sleuths had arrived at his resident to arrest him. Khan is under ED scanner for alleged financial irregularities.
The ED case is based on FIRs by CBI and Delhi Police. While the Delhi police is probing Amanatullah’s role in a disproportionate case, the probe agency has registered a single case based on these two cases.
According to ED sources, the APP MLA had initially refused to cooperate in the searches as he didn't open doors for the searches to begin by the ED team. Later, ED sleuths entrered his house.
The AAP MLA shared a statement in connection with the raids in a video message and claimed that ED team reached his house to arrest him. He said, "the aim of the ED is arrest me, stop our work. The ED has been creating troubles for me for the past two years, putting false allegation against me."
He added, "Our CM is in jail. They want to break our party. Whatever work is left unfinished. Our team, our govt will complete it. We are ready to go to jail. I have faith in court. It is a fake case. It is going on in CBI and ED. CBI also admitted that no corruption happened. They imposed fake case against me. They have come to arrest me. I have not done anything wrong. You take care of my family."
As the ED raided his house, a large contingent of Delhi Police and paramilitary forces was deployed outside Khan’s home in Okhla, the constituency he represents in the Delhi Assembly. Visuals from the scene showed officers reviewing documents and materials, with heavy security on the roads leading to Khan’s residence.
AAP leaders Slams Centre Over Raids
Soon after ED arrived at his residence, several party leaders, including Manish Sisodia and Sanjay Singh, slammed the BJP government at the Centre, saying agencies are targeting those who raised their voice against the ruling party.
In a video on X, Khan also said he has been replying to all the notices being sent by the agency. But a team is here to arrest him on a search warrant, he said.
Former Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia, who was recently released on bail in the liquor policy case, tweeted, " The only work left for the ED is to "suppress every voice raised against the BJP and break it". Those who do not break, are arrested and put in jail, he alleged.
Singh claimed that the ED has no evidence against Khan. Prime Minister Narendra Modi's "dictatorship" and the ED's "hooliganism" continue, he alleged. ]
Earlier in April, the AAP MLA was quizzed by ED sleuths for 14 hours. The raids pertain to a money laundering case linked to Waqf board.
