PM Modi to Visit Russia From October 22-23 for 16th BRICS Summit

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will embark on a two-day visit to Russia, from October 22-23, at the invitation of President Vladimir Putin to attend the 16th BRICS Summit in Kazan, the MEA said in a statement on Friday, October 18. 

"Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi will visit Russia from 22-23 October 2024 at the invitation of H.E Mr. Vladimir Putin , President of the Russian Federation, to attend the 16th BRICS Summit, being held in Kazan, under the Chairmanship of Russia," the statement read. 

As per the statement by the MEA, the PM is also expected to hold bilateral meetings with his counterparts from BRICS member countries and other invited leaders in Kazan.

The theme of this year's BRICS summit is "Strengthening Multilateralism for Just Global Development and Security". The summit provides an important platform for leaders to discuss key global issues, the MEA said.

"The summit will offer a valuable opportunity to assess the progress of initiatives launched by BRICS and to identify potential areas for future collaboration," the ministry said.
