New Delhi: Parvesh Sahib Singh, popularly known as Parvesh Verma, who defeated AAP Supremo Arvind Kejriwal in New Delhi, took oath as a Delhi Minister. He won the New Delhi seat by a margin of over 4,000 votes, according to the poll body. The Bharatiya Janata Party has returned to the national capital after 27 years.
Parvesh Verma Takes Oath as Delhi Minister
Parvesh Verma is the son of Sahib Singh Verma, a former Delhi Chief Minister and senior vice-president of the Bharatiya Janata Party. He was one of the top contenders for the post of Chief Minister and has served in the BJP for 30 years.
His uncle, Azad Singh, was the mayor of the North Delhi Municipal Corporation and has contested elections on a BJP ticket from Mundka.
Verma has served as a two-time Member of Parliament from West Delhi, and in the 2013 Assembly polls, he was elected as an MLA from the Mehrauli seat.

The Bharatiya Janata Party overall won a total of 48 seats, while the Aam Aadmi Party secured 22. The Congress failed to gain ground and is not leading in any seat.
