Shaktikanta Das Appointed Principal Secretary-2 To PM
Former Governor of the Reserve Bank of India Shaktikanta Das has been appointed the Principal Secretary-2 to the Prime Minister.

New Delhi: Former Governor of the Reserve Bank of India Shaktikanta Das, on Saturday, was appointed the second Principal Secretary to Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet approved Das’ selection, with an order to this effect issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT).
The order read, “The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has approved the appointment of Shri Shaktikanta Das, IAS (Retired), as Principal Secretary-2 to Prime Minister with effect from the date he assumes the office. His appointment will be co-terminus with the term of the Prime Minister or until further orders, whichever is earlier.”
Born in Bhubaneshwar on February 26, 1957, Das pursued a degree in Bachelor's and Master's in History from St Stephen's College in Delhi.

The former Governor is credited with handling a challenging time that was marked by intense pressure from the economic and financial sectors.
Das is also considered to have proved his mettle during the tumultuous phase of the COVID-19 pandemic, tackling rising inflation to name a few.

A retired IAS officer of the 1980 batch of Tamil Nadu cadre, the 67-year-old is also the 25th Governor of the Reserve Bank of India who retired in December last year.
Das has also served as India’s G20 Sherpa and as a member of the 15th Finance Commission. With a career spanning over 42 years as a civil servant, he has primarily worked in finance, taxation, investment, and infrastructure.
PK Mishra, a former IAS officer of the Gujarat cadre, is currently serving as the Principal Secretary to PM Modi.
