Mumbai: Shinde's Shiv Sena are all out in full support against Kunal Kamra’s comments about Maharashtra 's Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde . Kamra's political satire referred to Shinde as a "gaddar" (traitor) during a stand-up comedy show in Mumbai, sparking outrage among supporters of the Shinde-led Shiv Sena faction.
In response, Shiv Sena leaders have come out in full force, condemning Kamra's comments as "cheap and crass publicity". Party spokespersons have accused Kamra of running a "paid campaign" to tarnish Shinde's image, with some leaders demanding legal action against the comedian. Shiv Sena MLA Murji Patel filed an FIR against Kamra, calling him out for a public apology within two days. Patel warned that Kamra's movements in Mumbai would be restricted if he failed to apologies.
Shiv Sena workers vandalised the venue where Kamra's show was hosted. Videos circulating online show protesters smashing chairs, tables, and lights in a display of anger over the comedian's remarks on Eknath Shinde. Shiv Sena leaders have defended the actions, stating that Kamra's comments were an insult to the Deputy Chief Minister and the party's legacy.
Shinde's Shiv Sena party workers also alleged that the comedian took money from Shiv Sena (UBT) leaders to insult Shinde.
Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has strongly criticised comedian Kunal Kamra for his remarks about Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde. Fadnavis stated that while freedom of speech is a constitutional right, it comes with limitations.
FIR Logged Against Kamra
The Mumbai police on Monday registered an FIR against Kamra for allegedly making defamatory remarks against Deputy CM Shinde during his show. On Sunday night, Shiv Sena members had vandalised the Habitat Comedy Club in Khar, where Kamra’s show with "gaddar" (traitor) jibe at Shinde was performed.
