Balasore (Odisha): The Chennai-bound New Jalpaiguri Central Express remained stranded for nearly four hours between Soro and Markona stations in Odisha’s Balasore district on Saturday after its engine hit an object on the tracks and became immobile, railway officials said.
Train Stuck for Hours, Passengers Stranded
The South Eastern Railway (SER), in a bulletin, confirmed that the train was stuck from 2:45 PM to 6:23 PM before an alternative locomotive was arranged. "An alternative loco was arranged, and the train departed at 6:23 PM," the SER said.
Other Trains Affected by Delays
Following the incident, at least four trains were regulated, leading to delays on key routes.
"While the 12245 Howrah-SMVT Bengaluru Express was halted between Soro-Markona, the 68051 Baleshwar-Bhadrak MEMU remained at Soro," the SER said.
