Chennai: A doctor, his wife, and their two sons were found dead at their home in Chennai’s Anna Nagar on Monday morning. Police suspected suicide due to financial distress.
The deceased were identified as Dr. Balamurugan (52), his wife Sumathy (47), their elder son Jaswant Kumar (a NEET aspirant), and younger son Lingesh Kumar (a Class 11 student).
Police found their bodies hanging in two separate rooms.
Dr. Balamurugan, a sonologist who ran multiple ultrasound centers in Chennai, was reportedly struggling with heavy debt.
The tragedy came to light when the doctor’s driver reached the house in the morning and found no response from inside.
Sensing something unusual, he alerted the police. Upon entering the house, officers discovered the bodies.
A police official stated, “We suspect they killed themselves. They were in debt. We are investigating. No formal complaint received from anyone so far.”
Investigators have not yet confirmed whether the family left behind a suicide note or faced pressure from money lenders. Further inquiries are underway to understand the circumstances leading to this heartbreaking incident.
