Chitradurga Slapgate: Cop And BJP Leader Engage In Slapping Battle In Karnataka

Chitradurga: A shocking video has emerged from Karnataka's Chitradurga showcasing a heated exchange between a cop and a BJP leader, which quickly escalated into a slapping contest. The incident, which occurred on Durgada Siri Hotel Road around midnight on Friday, has sparked widespread outrage and raised concerns about the behavior of public officials. A video of the incident is also going viral on social media, wherein both, the police personnel and the BJP leader are seen hitting each other, while a few people around them trying to stop them and keep them away. 

According to eyewitnesses, the police personnel involved in the incident was Sub Inspector (SI) Gadilinga Gowdar, who instructed a group of people to disperse and go home, which enraged Madhugiri BJP District President Hanumanta Gowda. The BJP leader allegedly abused the cop, prompting Gowdar to throw a slap. The situation quickly spiraled out of control, with the BJP leader hitting back and the cop charging towards him.

Breakdown Of Incident

The video of the physical altercation, which has gone viral on social media, shows the cop and the BJP leader engaging in a heated argument. The cop can be seen instructing the group to disperse, while the BJP leader appears to be resisting. The situation escalates quickly, with the cop throwing a slap and the BJP leader retaliating.

"It was like a power slap contest," said an eyewitness. "The cop and the BJP leader were going at each other, and it seemed like things could get out of hand at any moment," he stated.

"The incident is unacceptable, and we will take action against those responsible," said a senior police official. He added, “We will also investigate the circumstances leading up to the incident and take steps to prevent such incidents in the future.”

As per reports, the police sub-inspector was subsequently admitted to the district hospital for treatment after he received injuries on his hands and fingers. Cross-complaints were filed at the local police station. 

Later, the police took BJP leader Gowda into custody, who countered the accusation of the cop by claiming that he had been assaulted by the police. BJP's state unit chief BY Vijayendra condemned the incident, slamming the ruling Congress over the law and order situation in the state. Vijayendra stated that cases of murder, extortion, robbery, and rape have been continuously occurring since the Congress came to power, and that law and order has completely collapsed.

Further legal action into the matter is being taken.
