Srinagar: In a meticulously planned covert operation, the Counter Intelligence Kashmir (CIK) unit, in coordination with the CID Cell Delhi and Delhi Police, apprehended a suspected terror financier in the national capital on Thursday.

The accused, identified as Parvez Ahmad Khan alias PK , Sheikh Tajamul and Khalid hails from Farooq Colony, Bemina in Srinagar.

He was wanted in connection with an ongoing terror funding investigation under FIR No 02/2024.

The arrest marks a significant breakthrough in efforts to dismantle terror funding channels that have long fueled terrorism in the Valley.

Intelligence sources revealed that funds were channelled from across the Line of Control (LoC)and subsequently delivered to terrorist groups through a network of couriers, with Khan acting as a key link in the operation.

A senior CIK official, speaking on condition of anonymity said, "Khan had been under both technical and physical surveillance for months. His movements were being closely tracked, and he was attempting to evade arrest by frequently relocating,".

The operation was launched following a warrant issued by a court in Srinagar.

Sources added that CIK operatives have been monitoring Khan's financial transactions, electronic communications and movements before closing in on him in Delhi.

A senior Jammu and Kashmir Police official termed the arrest a major success in counter- terror operations, he said, "This was not an overnight operation. It took weeks of dedicated surveillance, intelligence-sharing and field action. The arrest was made possible due to close coordination between multiple agencies,".

Another officer revealed the painstaking efforts of intelligence operatives saying, "The dismantling of terror networks isn't just about arrests, it's about cutting off their financial arteries. With Khan in custody, we anticipate further leads that could expose the entire funding mechanism,".

Khan’s arrest comes amid an intensified crackdown on terror financing and radic propaganda in the Valley.

In recent weeks here,  over 650 books were seized and linked to banned organizations.

The move is part of a broader strategy to curb extremist indoctrination and the prevention of the spread of radical ideologies.

A senior security official, assessing the situation in Kashmir noted, " The security situation in Valley has significantly improved in the past three years.  However the joint security forces remain highly vigilant against delinquent elements who seek to disrupt peace,".

Khan is currently being shifted to Srinagar, where he will be presented before the court for further legal proceedings. Officials believe his arrest could lead to further arrests as the investigation progresses.
