New Delhi: A man has been arrested two days after Congress worker Himani Narwal was found stuffed in a suitcase in Rohtak on Saturday.
Preliminary investigations suggest the accused is a resident of Haryana 's Bahadurgarh. The victim and the suspect were reportedly in a relationship. Her personal belongings, such as her mobile phone and jewellery, were recovered from him.
According to reports, Himani had allegedly been blackmailing the suspect and had extorted lakhs of rupees from him.
On Sunday, her family refused to cremate her body until her killers were arrested and given the death penalty.

Narwal, who lived in Vijay Nagar, Rohtak, was found dead by passers-by near the Sampla bus stand, just a day before the municipal elections. She was pursuing a law degree and had also participated in the Bharat Jodo Yatra.
Narwal's mother, Savita, spoke to reporters in Rohtak on Sunday and accused some leaders in the party of envying her daughter's rapid political rise.

She suggested that anyone in the party could be responsible for the gruesome murder, as there were many who were jealous of her.
"It could be anyone in the party who was jealous of her rise, or it could be someone else," the mother, accompanied by her own mother, said.
"I last spoke to her on February 27. She had said she would be busy with a party program the next day, but later her phone was found switched off. Until my daughter gets justice, we won't cremate her," she said.
Former Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda has demanded a high-level probe into the murder.
Congress leader and MLA from Rohtak, B.B. Batra, described Narwal as a "very good and active" worker of the party who participated in various programs. "Those who have committed the crime should be severely punished," Batra said.
Her mother also alleged that despite Congress's claims of support during the investigation, no senior leader from the party reached out to them after her daughter's death.
